COPING WITH STRESS
For individuals -
Strengthen resources instead of stress, depression and burnout
Stress is part of life. However, a distinction is made between "good" (eustress) and "bad" (distress) stress. The difference is relatively easy to recognize if you ask yourself whether the relevant part of your own tasks is still experienced as challenging or rather as overwhelming. If the latter is the case, this can lead to burnout. According to ICD 11, symptoms are: "lack of energy and exhaustion, increasing mental distance, negative attitude or cynicism towards your own job and reduced professional performance." Some symptoms are similar to those of depression, which makes it all the more important to thoroughly clarify your living conditions. In addition to the diagnosis, the type of treatment is crucial. Burnout and depression are disorders that affect both physical and mental/emotional. Working with a (family) doctor is recommended. This also applies to the topic of medication. In the short term, this can be helpful - in the long term, however, you as the affected person need the opportunity for a fundamental reorientation. The question of a longer professional "time out" or a hospital stay must also be discussed. It should be noted that this can have both advantages (getting away from the stressful everyday working life) and disadvantages (loss of structure and everyday meaning). All of these aspects must be clarified individually and applied to your situation.
Further therapeutic procedure:
In my practice, I like to use the tried and tested stress management program of the "Zurich Resource Model" by Maja Storch, which works very closely with neurophysiological findings. Stress management that is to be successful must start with the "essentials", with a person's beliefs and values. It must open up meaningful paths for him or her into the initially uncertain and then possibly better future. Only then will one be able to take all the necessary adjustment steps, which essentially have to do with dealing with oneself - and others - in a better way. This is the only way that stress management and mindful change can become complementary concepts. If it is time for you to change something, call me and arrange a meeting!
For companies -
Positive workflow instead of digital stress
Companies often offer stress management seminars as part of their corporate health promotion program. In doing so, they are increasingly faced with the challenge of limiting and ideally avoiding the undesirable consequences of digital media use in the workplace. The increasing use of various digital tools leads to condensed work processes and can be accompanied by employees feeling overwhelmed. This can be avoided by choosing the right digital tools. At the same time, however, clear rules for media use must also be introduced.
My training programs and workshops for teams and their managers combine the following basic elements, which are of course always individually and flexibly adapted to the respective company context and local needs:
Work 4.0 / New Work in everyday life
Recognizing (digital) stress
Self-determined media use
Productive digital work
